You leave enough of a gap around the edge that it can expand contract flex whatever but that it s hidden by baseboard. However you can get rid of it and keep it from coming back. The area under vinyl flooring contains the perfect conditions for mold to flourish. Mold you can t wish it away and you can t really avoid it.

Vinyl plank is a floating floor which means you don t ever actually attach it to the underlay. Basements that are wet or commonly take on water when it rains are most prone to developing mold under. Although vinyl floors are resistant to moisture mold and mildew can grow if there is standing water around the edges grooves or under the floor. If you notice standing water it is important to fix the cause of the standing water before trying to repair or clean your floors.

Mold will grow where ever there is moisture.
